# Work through your inbox

> Filter your notifications by type, open the item behind each one and mark them as read.

Your inbox collects everything that needs your attention: tasks assigned to you, mentions, approvals to give, submitted requests, run steps and tasks you follow. Work through it from top to bottom, and it tells you when you are all caught up.

## Open your inbox

Choose **Inbox** in the sidebar, or the bell at the top right. The number next to **Inbox** shows how many notifications you have not read yet.

Notifications are grouped by organization, newest first. Unread ones have a colored background and a bar on the left. The inbox refreshes by itself; choose **Refresh** to check right away.

## Filter by type

1. Choose a filter above the list, for example **Assigned to You**, **Mentions**, **Approvals Pending** or **Requests**.
2. Choose **Unread Only** to hide what you have already read.

Choose **All Items** to see everything again. On a phone, the filters are under **Filters**.

## Open the item behind a notification

Choose a notification. OKiDO opens the task, run or request it is about, and marks the notification as read.

## Mark notifications as read

- **One at a time:** point at a notification and choose **Mark as read** (the open envelope) on the right. **Mark as unread** turns it back, and the trash can deletes it.
- **All at once:** choose **Mark All as Read** at the top right.

The count next to **Inbox** in the sidebar catches up within half a minute. Read notifications stay in your inbox, so you can always find them again.
